Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

Your safari journey officially begins as you head to Amboseli National Park, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. This majestic, snow-capped mountain pierces the clouds and forms a stunning natural backdrop over the park’s vast plains.

Located in southern Kenya, Amboseli National Park is renowned for its magnificent view of Mount Kilimanjaro and its rich wildlife. It is one of the best places to see large herds of elephants up close, along with lions, leopards, giraffes, and numerous bird species. The expansive grasslands and wetlands offer the perfect safari experience, allowing visitors to connect with nature and explore the fascinating world of African wildlife.

Upon arrival at Amboseli, you will first check into your lodge and enjoy a relaxing lunch.
After lunch, your adventure in Amboseli National Park begins. Hop aboard a safari vehicle and get ready to witness rare wildlife roaming freely across the vast savannah. Experience the thrill of being immersed in nature as you traverse the plains.

Lake Nakuru National Park is a renowned sanctuary for black rhinos, with a high population density. If you’re lucky, you may also spot white rhinos that were introduced from South Africa. The park is also home to the rare Rothschild’s giraffe, listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List, with an estimated wild population of only around 670 individuals.

Among the highlights is Lake Nakuru, one of Kenya’s famous soda lakes located within the park. It is a well-known wildlife viewing destination. Large flocks of flamingos often gather along the lake shores, creating a breathtaking pink spectacle. The lake area is also an important habitat for white rhinos, attracting countless visitors every year.

To witness these five animals in the wild is considered a dream come true for every wildlife enthusiast. This is one of the main reasons why Maasai Mara attracts so many visitors.

You will stay for the second night at Lion’s Cradle, allowing you more time to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Maasai Mara, enjoying the spectacular sunrises and sunsets. You can relax at the camp or explore the surrounding wildlife activity, experiencing more surprises. Day six is unlike any other day on a traditional safari—it’s the day you take part in the Ultra Marathon across Lemek and Olchorro Conservancies. Unlike standard marathons that wind through paved city streets, this event immerses you in the African wilderness. Runners traverse dirt trails, grassy plains, and gentle hills, often with wildlife roaming in the distance. It’s not just about speed or endurance—it’s about experiencing Africa in its rawest form.

Unlike game drives, where you observe wildlife from a vehicle, running through the conservancy allows you to feel part of the environment. Every footstep connects you to the earth, every breath carries the scent of wild grasses, and every horizon reminds you how vast and beautiful Africa truly is.

On your final day, it’s time to bid farewell to the wild. After breakfast at Lions Cradle, you’ll embark on the return journey by road to Nairobi. The drive back is a chance to reflect on the incredible experiences of the past week—the elephants in Amboseli, the flamingos in Nakuru, the lions of Lemek, and, of course, the ultra marathon.
