Highlights

Discover Patagonia: Iconic Treks Through Majestic Peaks and Glaciers

Santa Cruz Island is the geographic and population center of the Galápagos, home to 20,000 of the archipelago’s 23,000 residents. Many cruise tours start and end at Puerto Ayora, the main port on the island.

The Charles Darwin Research Station is also located here, dedicated to breeding giant tortoises and preserving the unique plant species of the Galápagos, while sharing their research with the world.

Most of the population is concentrated in Puerto Ayora, leaving much of the island's nature untouched. You can still find wild giant tortoises, marine and land iguanas, sea lions, and a wide variety of seabirds throughout the island.

Santa Cruz offers a glimpse into the future of the Galápagos, where resorts and untouched nature coexist, and humans and wildlife learn to share the same space.
Isabela Island is the largest in the Galápagos archipelago and one of the youngest, with ongoing volcanic activity still observable. Formed by the merging of five volcanoes, the island sits atop a hot spot of magma. The equator passes through the island’s northern tip, but the only town, Puerto Villamil, is located at the southern end.

With a population of about 2,500, Puerto Villamil is less developed than Puerto Ayora, offering a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere.

The island is home to the world’s second-largest volcanic crater, and half-day trekking tours to explore its vast volcanic landscapes are highly popular.

Near the port, you can also observe Galápagos penguins, white-tip reef sharks, sea lions, and marine iguanas up close, making Isabela an ideal place to experience the natural beauty of the Galápagos. Since fewer travelers stay on this island, the locals maintain a more rustic and authentic way of life.

    Arrival in Quito, Ecuador

Upon arriving at Quito International Airport, our local staff will meet you at the arrival gate, holding a sign with your name. You will then be transferred by private vehicle to your hotel in Quito, a journey of approximately 45 minutes.

Quito, the capital of Ecuador, is located at an altitude of 2,800 meters in the Andes, right along the equator. Due to the high altitude, mild symptoms of altitude sickness, such as headaches or shortness of breath, may occur after arriving.

To prevent altitude sickness, we recommend staying hydrated and consuming some sugar. Please eat lightly and take lukewarm showers. Drinking water will be provided in your hotel room.
