カリブ海屈指のダイビングリゾート地ボネール
発音はボンネェァに近いです。
豊かな自然に恵まれ、陽気な人々と音楽で賑わうこの島は、
一度訪れると何度も足を運びたくなると言われています。
ボネールの概要とベストシーズン
人口およそ1万8千人、フラミンゴの生息地として知られ人よりもフラミンゴの数の方が多いと言われるのこの島は、アルーバ、キュラソーに比べ開発もそこまで進んでおらず、海もキレイなためマリンアクティビティが盛んです。島の東側はウィンドサーウィンのメッカとしてプロ・アマ問わずウィンドサーファーが技を磨き合い、島の西側には80以上のダイブサイトが点在します。「バディダイブ」といって、ピックアップトラックにエアタンクを積んだらバディと二人で島内をドライブ＆ダイブのスタイルが人気で「Scuba Diving」の読者投票では世界No.1のダイブリゾートとして過去数年ノミネートされています。
ベストシーズンは乾季の12月から4月
熱帯気候に属する常夏の島です。
ボネール観光のベストシーズンは乾季の12月～4月で、湿気が少なく過ごしやすいですが、欧米からの観光客でかなり混み合います。

Kralendijk
主要の港がある島の首都です。
Kralendijkはサンゴ礁を意味しており、パピアメント語では“ビーチ”と呼ばれます。
カラフルな街の中心部はいつも賑わっています。メイン通りではショッピングをしたりレストランで食事をしたりカラフルなカリブの建物に囲まれて過ごせます。
11月から4月にかけては北もしくは南ふ頭にクルーズ船が着岸し、世界中からのクルーズ客で溢れ、島で作られた商品が並ぶ市場が開かれます。
フラミンゴサンクチュアリ
Pekelmeer Flamingo Sanctuary
世界にあるフラミンゴの４大繁殖地のうちの一つです。
“Pekelmeer”はオランダ語で「塩の湖」の意味。
フラミンゴの餌である大量の紅いエビのおかげで白い塩湖はピンク色に見えます。この地に生息するカリビアンフラミンゴはフラミンゴの中で最もカラフルなフラミンゴと言われています。
観光客は繁殖地に立ち入ることはできませんが、10､000羽以上のフラミンゴが生息するエリアを道路やビーチから望遠鏡で眺めることができます。
ここではフラミンゴの他にもミサゴや鵜、サギ、軍艦鳥なども観測することができます。
ワシントンスラグバイ国立公園
Washington Slagbaai National Park
ボネール島の北に位置するワシントンスラグバイ国立公園。
かつては2つの農園、ワシントンとスラグバイによってわかれていました。
当時は塩、石炭、アロエ、ジビジビ、そしてヤギなどを供給していました。しかしながら1969年に地主が亡くなったことで、ワシントン農園も閉鎖。その後政府が土地を引き継ぎ、人々の娯楽施設として残されました。

ボネールの中で、そしてオランダアンティル諸島及びアルーバの中で一番古い村です。
海賊から見を守るためにスペイン人によって建てられました。

ボネール島の北に位置するワシントンスラグバイ国立公園。
かつては2つの農園、ワシントンとスラグバイによってわかれていました。
当時は塩、石炭、アロエ、ジビジビ、そしてヤギなどを供給していました。しかしながら1969年に地主が亡くなったことで、ワシントン農園も閉鎖。その後政府が土地を引き継ぎ、人々の娯楽施設として残されました。
